在Google+上線前，就有許多討論Facebook是否應該要擔心，依現有數據顯示，Facebook要非常小心看待這件事。Google+ 上線後3個月就達到5千萬個使用者，2012年6月Google+ 宣布已有超過2億5千用戶，其中1億5千萬用戶會每月使用，有7500萬用戶每天登入。另一件值得注意的是，Google+ 有高達78%的使用者滿意度，而Facebook只有61%。
