根據美國研究中心Pew Internet & American Life Project調查，每十位網友當中，有八位表示最近一次是在Google、Bing、Yahoo等搜尋引擎查詢保健相關資訊。另外約有13%受訪者表示會到健康專業資訊網站（如WebMD）查找所需資訊、2%從Wikipedia網站開始查詢、1%會向社群網站求助。Pew研究中心副主任Susannah Fox同時表示，結果顯示了健康產業相關網站並未在過去十年內獲取大眾青睞。
