The present study employed Taiwan Social Change Survey (TSCS) data collected in 1993, 1998 and 2003 to examine changing patterns of mass media use in Taiwan. Several research questions were asked based on the uses and gratifications theory. The results show that people use traditional media less frequently, and more people use the internet to get needed information. The results also show that more people are accessing entertainment content on mass media. The study found that the changing patterns of media use can reflect the changing market structure of the mass media industry.
